“No time for love” by the 80’s rock band Hertzainak.

Their Law is our apartheid,
Prison, escaping, breakage and silence.
Their Law:
Having you and me in their way.
Having them hidden behind metal
Anti-weapons and anti-rays, and those
Who are against tear-gas, like us,
Are supposed to be wrong.
Loving is forbidden at night.
Suffering torture, rotting in prison,
Writing letters and dying there.
They bore pain, but loneliness swallowed them.
Courts applied them their justice
As only neat thugs do.
They often wish fighters could resist,
But more often do they wish they could die.
Loving is forbidden at night,
No good-byes, no tears at night,
Not even a “why?”, neither a “where?”.
Only the howl of an aimlessly siren at night.
They carried away young Francis Hughes
And his cousin Tom McElwee too.
They came for Patsy Ohara, Bobby Sands
and their friends in Boston, Chicago, Saigon, Santiago,
Warsaw, Gasteiz and Belfast,
And those from so many other places…
Such a never-ending list!
Loving is forbidden at night,
No good-byes, no tears at night,
Not even a “why?”, neither a “where?”.
Only the howl of an aimlessly siren at night.
Come all those who want to help,
Our friends in the fight.
You can get used to war,
But war is still there.
Fish need the sea
And the People need you.
As long as our will subsists,
Fear may not be imposed.
Loving is forbidden at night,
No good-byes, no tears at night,
Not even a why-not?
Only the howl of an aimlessly siren at night.
The howl of an aimlessly siren at night.
